Burle Marx Landscape site

Burle Marx (1909-1994), a Brazilian landscaper with over 2,000 works built around the world was a multiple artist: painter, sculptor, ceramist, musician, lyric singer, collector of works of art and botanist. As botanist, he discovered and cataloged new species of Brazilian flora (whose scientific names bear his name). His work as a landscaper revolutionized the way parks and gardens were treated and prized by tropical species; its gardens made par with the modernist works of the most prominent architects of the movement.

The visit to the site, located in Guaratiba (50 km from downtown Rio de Janeiro) is a dip in the beauty of Brazilian flora and culture. On site there is a chapel of the seventeenth century restored by the artist, several works of art, sculptures and, above all, lush gardens.

Guided tours will last about 90 minutes. The complete tour will last 6 hours, including a snack at Point de Grumari - restaurant to watch the sunset over the beautiful Marambaia sandbank. Specialties: salted pastries and caipirinhas.

Price: R$ 70,00 (US$ 20.00) per person

Included: ticket, official guide and transportation to and from the meeting point
